Thanks Darian, This is the Saloon Bar at the Australian Hotel, located on the corner of Cumberland and Gloucester Streets in The Rocks. The Police Photographer Walter Tuchin took this series of photographs in 1956 after a shooting occurred the on the hotel’s footpath. You can still order a drink from this bar as The Australian Hotel still operates today. The hotel looks remarkably the same as documented in the police photographs, see Accident Music 49.

Hi Darian,
Great observation! This photograph was taken on Angel Street in Newtown. Angel Street is just off Erskineville Road and runs parallel to Union Street, on the King Street side.
